“Understanding the source of a delusion causes it to lose its hold upon existence. Those who have attained realization this are as if awakening from sleep, and their past seems only a dream.” Surangama Sutra
Venerable Khenpo Pema Wangdak will lead a weekend of teachings and practices in the contem¬plation of all our aspirations and purposes. We will reflect upon our life—present, past, and what the future may hold for us, for humanity, for our friends, enemies, children, and neighbors; for the promises we have made; for our responsibilities; and concerning our own birth, death, and our soul (mind). The program will include White Tara Initiation and guided meditation, observance of the sojong precepts, and prayers with cross-references to the teachings found in The Bodhisattva’s Way of Life by the great Bodhisattva Shantideva.
White Tara is a Female Buddha considered one of the most popular deities in Tibetan Buddhism. She represents the embodiment of enlightened perfection of wisdom and the true nature of mind, as well as health and longevity. Tara is regarded as a fully enlightened Buddha in female form. Known as the “Mother of the Buddhas,” Tara appears throughout Tibet as the principle female Buddha from which all other female Buddhas emanate.
Venerable Lama Pema Wandak is the creator of “Bur Yig,” the Tibetan Braille system, and the founder of the Vikramasila Foundation, the Pema Ts’al Monastic Institute (Nepal), and the Pema Ts’al School (India). He lives in New York City at the Palden Sakya Center. He has been guiding Western students for the past 28 years and continues to travel and teach extensively around the world.
