Friday – January 19 at 7.00pm to 8.30pm Introductory Talk. Includes simple breakfast on Saturday & Sunday at 8:30 AM And a Vegetarian Lunch at 12.00 noon. Free and Open to Public – Donation are Welcome.During this weekend intensive retreat, Geshe Lobsang Jhagmey will guide us through the background and methodology of understanding the many faces of the destructive emotions such as anger, hatred, and violence from the Buddhist perspective, and will offer time-tested techniques for transforming these destructive emotions into patience, tolerance, love, and compassion. Geshe la will unravel the profound meditative techniques practiced for centuries by both Buddhist contemplatives and scholars, and provide guidance on how to make them relevant to our modern day life of struggle, strife, stress, and anxiety. Geshe Lobsang Jhagmey’s many years of personal experience of teaching and working with students will provide first-hand enriching techniques based on his compassion research programs at Sera Monastery. The course will be based on the sixth chapter of the Bodhicharyavatara, A Guide to Ways of the Universal Hero, a masterpiece composed in the 8th century by Acharya Shantideva.
BIOGRAPHY:Venerable Geshe Lobsang Jhagmey was born on 5th June 1973 in Kham Zachu Khaba in, Tibet. At the age of 7 became monk and enrolled at Gaden Sherdupling Monastery with Khanchen Lobsang Dhondup who taught him Tibetan Language and memorizing classical Buddhist Texts. He has completed his 14 classes of Buddhist dialectic studies along with Dharmakirti’s, Perfection Vehicle, Madhyamika, middle way school, abhidharmakosa tika and others for 25 years of study he got his PHD degree of Buddhist both in Sutra and Tantric called Geshe Lharampa Degree. Year 2013 he appointed as Philosophy teacher in Sera Je Monastery and from July 2014 joined Gyurmey Trantric college and year 2015 he was selected to be the teacher of Namgyal Monastery students where he teaches both Sutra and Tantra till coming to Ithaca Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies.
