Namgyal Monastery Institute of Buddhist Studies in partnership with The Tibet Fund in, NY presents the 2018 Summer Tibetan Study Program in Ithaca for Tibetan youths 16 and over, residing in North America. OBJECTIVES This program aims to enable young Tibetans to focus on Tibetan Buddhism, History, Culture and Language. Students will gain a basic foundation on Tibetan Buddhism, History, Culture and Language. The program is structured in particular for Tibetan youths to be able to grasp the basic foundation in pursuit of paving the way for future learning. This two week program will offer an in-depth understanding of Tibetan history, culture, language and Tibetan Buddhist philosophy and practice. Program Courses: • Meditation = Tibetan Buddhism and Vipassana Meditation by Clint Sidle short presentations and periods of sitting and walking meditation interspersed with opportunities for questions and answers. • Tibetan Buddhism : By Sidney Piburn - Based on the instructor’s personal experience in the world of Tibetan Buddhism. • Tibetan Language for Beginners or Intermediate – by Ven Thupten Yarphel & Ven lobsang Choegyal. • Tibetan History and Politics by Lobsang Nyandak • Tibetan Buddhist Philosophy and Practice - by Geshe lobsang Jamyang & Pladen Oshoe • His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s Three Commitments by Ven, Tenzin Choesang • Buddhism as a Science of Mind & Neurobiology of Meditation – by Deana Bodnar • Mandala and Arts – by Ven Tenzin Gyechy and lobsang Choephel Program Dates: July 29, 2018 – August 11, 2018
