Chenrezig is the Buddha of Compassion and hence, tantric practice of this deity is a powerful tool for generating Great Compassion for all sentient beings. Chenrezig practice is closely connected to HH the XIV Dalai Lama as he is considered a direct emanation of Chenrezig. Students will practice daily prayers and meditations, and receive teachings on Chenrezig practice and generating Great Compassion.
This retreat will provide basic instruction and orientation to Buddhist teachings and practice that previously have been part of our “Get Acquainted with Namgyal
Retreat”. In addition, this retreat will provide an overview and introduction to Tantric Buddhist practice. The teachings will be given in conjunction with a Chenrezig initiation, detailed instruction on the practice of the Chenrezig Sadhana, daily Chenrezig group practice sessions. After the last meditation session and dinner on each day, there will be discussion groups, slide-lectures and other activities.
This retreat is accessible and open to anyone who would like to attend. Students will receive individual attention from the monks of the Dalai Lama’s own personal monastery. The retreat will be relatively informal and all of the monks will be accessible to the students throughout the day and evening for questions and discussion on the materials studied. There will also be many opportunities for individual sessions with the teachers of Namgyal Monastery to discuss questions you might have regarding your own personal practice.
